Although I love the "what would you do if the Internet died?" question (it *is* offbeat and fun), it occurs to me that we sit around discussing it and reading Coupland articles about our pre-Internet brain while our kids make TikTok videos or whatever the next thing is now about how old their parents are...

There's something generationally comforting in that thought for me.

Interesting perspective for covering Atlantic Canada. Living in Northwestern Ontario (i.e., "somewhere north of Parry Sound" in southern Ontario lingo), I can relate to the feelings of marginalization. I'd prefer it if we could all just *be* instead of trying to *be better* than someone else.

Another great, thought-provoking post/interview!

Hearing that answer about the Atlantic Canada focus helped paint the Atlantic Canada Mondays in a new light for me, definitely a question I'm glad I asked. I'm only in my early twenties but TikTok makes me feel old.

Great post, William! I've often wondered what I'd learn about prolific Substack interviewer Mark if he were ever anyone's interviewee - and now I know that it's plenty! Fascinating stuff - thanks, both!

Thank you. I just had to find out what his answer to the 'what would you do if the internet was destroyed' question was after seeing him ask it so many times.

I've been thinking about that myself - I wonder if his fabulous interviews have just been an elaborate fishing expedition to provide HIM with the opportunity to answer that question! And there you go: you've asked! 🤣😉
