The new year has come. I should talk about what’s coming next then.
An experiment I’d like to do for the upcoming year is having some videos on the side. It has lower priority than the writing and won’t replace any of it, so nothing with a regular schedule, but there is value in playing with other mediums.
Part of this comes from the fact that it’s currently easier for me to be bad at videos then it is to be bad at drawing and 3d modeling, in fact I already did a quick test just to see if I could do a gaming video, where it turns out I could. And gaming is the main thing I’d want to make videos on, not too interested in videos about writing.
In terms of topics. I have plenty of things I’d like to touch on for this year non-fiction wise. For ‘Let Me Talk To You About’ I might go even more niche, talking about specific fanfics, RPG Maker games, and mods. And I want to continue my research into Tezcatlipoca while sharing that knowledge.
Battles Beneath the Stars is still carrying on. Fintan marks the halfway point of it actually. Once he’s done there will be only seven characters left. Which according to my calculations means I’m due another full year of writing this unless I start posting every week, which doesn’t seem sustainable. I’m in this for the long haul.
Finding time for other fiction between a ‘write as you go’ serial is hard, but I’ve been able to polish up some older works for publication here. The Final Mantra in particular is something that I feel is able to stand alone while setting up a future longer story.
The above link marks a good transition point to the monthly recap. I finally talked about Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale this month, a game that I felt did not get a fair reception.
I wanted to do a post on the connections between Tezcatlipoca and Jesus for the holiday, but it needed more time. Maybe I’ll delay it to Easter to keep the holiday timing. Either way what I posted instead was a quick joke that people seemed fond of.
Lastly, I’ve enjoyed writing Fintan’s story for Battles Beneath the Stars. Characters like him have the challenge of showing all their backstory, but I’ve had him around for so long that it’s easier to work with him.
That’s all for now. Thank you for reading.
Happy New Year, William! Looking forward to a new year with The Warthog Report.
happy new year! 🎆 the gameplay video is so fun (I for sure couldn't make anything like that without a script, very impressive)
