Boxing is about boxes right?

For seasonal reasons I was unable to get the post I wanted to share this month ready in time. So instead of simply apologizing or posting nothing, I decided to go for something short that could also be amusing.

Apparently in other parts of the world today is Boxing Day. Feels weird to have an entire day dedicated to boxing right after Christmas, but whatever. I am absolutely not misunderstanding this on purpose. So, in honor of the holiday, here are my top five boxers.

1. Bullwinkle. I barely know anything about Rocky and Bullwinkle, can’t even remember what animal Bullwinkle is. But the Rocky movies are about boxing I think. Therefore Bullwinkle is probably also a boxer.

2. Tezcatlipoca. I can just claim all the sources connecting Tezcatlipoca to boxing were destroyed by the Spanish and it’d be plausible, it could only be disproved by presenting surviving sources that do say he’s a boxer.

   

3. These guys who box with conch shell boxing gloves. Need someone like this in a new Punch-Out or a fighting game. Photograph by Justin Kerr, acquired from MayaVase.com.

4. Barbie. I don’t know if Boxer Barbie is an actual thing, but it’s Barbie, the moment she becomes a boxer you know she’ll be a champion. And as someone who comes in boxes she likely knows a lot about them.

5. Spongebob and Patrick, they had so much fun playing with a cardboard box that Squidward was unable to escape boxes no matter what channel he turned the TV to. That’s pretty good.
