September, it is a month that we are now in.
You may have noticed that the email versions of posts now have headers and a new footer. I thought it’d be good to make use of that space, but for a while wasn’t sure what to do. It’s another way in which the newsletter is improving over time.
I try not to look at stats too much, but we’re getting close to my goal for this year of one hundred subscribers. Makes me consider doing some initiative to reach the number or planning a one hundred subscribers special. My prediction is I’ll hit one hundred within this month.
After that I won’t have subscriber number focused goals. Instead any goals I set will likely be focused on engagement, which to be fair, is easier with bigger numbers.
Keeping up with the newsletter has been harder lately than I thought, though I’ve kept everything on schedule. Regardless I’m aiming to build up momentum to stay on top of things instead of finalizing a chapter the night before it ships out. Deadlines are a good source of motivation.
Recap of Last Month
I worry that this sounds too authoritative, but I did say they were my guidelines and also I do judge other media by it. There was a separate post idea I toyed with that inspired this one, it was about judging different Tezcatlipocas in media, because I’m the kind of guy to look up how Tezcatlipoca is depicted before trying out something that includes him. I was also inspired by a Tumblr ask prompt that was doing five guidelines for any named character.
If I hadn’t done just five guidelines, I would have included something about the importance of mockery and laughter to Tezcatlipoca. Those are major elements of him that I feel most fiction misses out on and something I make a point of trying to represent.
Writing about Radiant Historia was a nice chance to revisit the game, and get my unusual interpretation of the original ending out there. One idea I had but didn’t end up committing to was breaking up the post with little asides about different team compositions, like my end game team of Stocke/Aht/Eruca.
When I get around to dedicating post to the subject of remakes and new editions, expect to hear about Radiant Historia again.
That’s all for now. Thank you for being subscribed to the Warthog Report.
