Welcome to the monthly report.
Recap of September
Here’s what was posted in the prior month. Battles Beneath the Stars saw the beginning of its second story, starring Hákon.
A new section also finally got its start, ‘Let Me Talk To You About…’ The goal is to just ramble about something I like and convince more people to try it so I can talk to them about it. I decided to start with some old sagas.
And for the normal blog post I returned to another familiar subject, Smash Bros, this time talking about a certain concept used by fanworks for it.
Plans for October
After the struggle with writing the first entry for it, I’m already on track to establish a buffer for ‘Let Me Talk To You About…’ This month’s post will either be on a board game featuring Disney villains or a video game featuring steampunk versions of literary characters. Other sections still need work to set up a buffer.
Hákon’s story had some unexpected difficulty in the writing process that slowed it down, but the next chapter will be coming out this week. Substack recently unveiled a new feature that automatically adds next/previous post buttons, saving me some busy work with new chapters.
Also, I made a World Anvil page for Hybridis quite some time ago, and now I’m making an effort to get it up to date and filled with relevant information for Battles Beneath the Stars.
It’s still not polished and some place names you see might be rethought and changed, especially in Mondragnes, but I figure the best way to improve it is to share it and hear what people think.
As a more broad plan, I’d like to look into collaborating with other people in some way. It’s not the highest priority right now, but I’ve idly thought about it enough times for it to feel worth giving more serious contemplation.
Other News
I’m proud to announce that I am now officially a narrative editor for Merfight: Curse of the Arctic Prince. The game is currently playable in early access on platforms like Steam and Itch.
I also took part in a tournament for Merfight as both a competitor and commentator, I’m the player going by GreyFox. I also took part in a tournament for Avengers in Galactic Storm, that time as MythicWarthog. Didn’t do too well in either, but I had fun.
